SolarCity Opens Operations Center in New Jersey

Cranbury, New Jersey, United States

Company allows businesses and homeowners to install panels for free and pay less for solar power than utility power with local installation and service

SolarCity® today announced the opening of a new facility that will bring new jobs and help New Jersey homeowners save money by using cleaner energy. SolarCity can give New Jersey homeowners and businesses the option to install solar panels for free and pay less for solar electricity than they pay for utility power. The company was joined last night by local leaders Congressman Rush Holt, State Senator Linda Greenstein, State Assemblyman Daniel Benson and Deputy Mayor of Cranbury Glenn Johnson to celebrate the opening of the new facility.

“We’re expanding our presence to make it easier for New Jersey homeowners and businesses to pay less money for better energy,” said Leon Keshishian, SolarCity’s regional director. “Much has been made of decreasing solar incentives here, but we continue to provide customers the ability to pay less for clean energy than they pay for utility power.”

SolarCity’s scale and purchasing power allows it to offer solar power below utility power rates, despite lower incentive levels that are discouraging many solar providers from expanding their operations in New Jersey. SolarCity was the No. 1 residential solar installer in the U.S. in 2010 and 2011 according to GTM Research, with more than double the volume of its nearest competitor.

SolarCity® – a national leader in solar power design, financing, installation, monitoring and energy efficiency services – was founded with the mission to help millions of homeowners and businesses adopt clean power, protect themselves from rising gas and electricity costs and protect their environment from polluting power sources. The company’s SolarLease® and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) options can make it possible for homeowners and businesses to switch to clean, solar power for less money than they currently pay for electricity. SolarCity’s 23 operations centers serve Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington, D.C.
