The Iowa Energy Center recently convened a blue ribbon panel of experts to discuss the next generation of biorenewable technologies. The panel met last month at the Energy Center’s Biomass Energy Conversion (BECON) facility in Nevada, Iowa. Their main focus was not only the future of biorenewables, but also related research and education programs needed to support future technologies.
“We wanted to bring together representatives from across the state whose resources and assets have been valuable for the growth of biorenewable technologies,” said Chitra Rajan, associate vice president at the Office of Vice President for Research and Economic Development and interim director at the Iowa Energy Center. “To continue our growth and achievements in biorenewables, we must examine what is needed to assure Iowa’s leadership in the next generation of biorenewable energy.”
The panel has drafted its findings and recommendations in a report expected to be published in the fall. For additional information about the panel or Iowa Energy Center’s biorenewable efforts, please contact the Energy Center.
