RenewableUK welcomes launch of Norstec Network

RenewableUK, the trade and professional body for the UK wind and marine renewables industries, today welcomed the launch of the Norstec network , a group of forty organisations, including RenewableUK, that are leading the development of offshore wind energy in Europe.

Speaking at the launch in London, Maria McCaffery, CEO of RenewableUK said:

“We welcome the launch of Norstec and support its ambitions for offshore wind energy in Northern Europe. The UK is leading the development of wind energy and is well-placed to benefit in terms of jobs and investment from this initiative. Wind energy is transforming our electricity market. Just last month nearly 11% of electricity supplied to the National Grid came from wind and we welcomed the launch of three new offshore wind farms taking our offshore wind capacity above 2.5 gigawatts or about enough electricity to power 1,800,000 homes. With continued momentum such as the Norstec Network, we expect that wind energy will transform our economy too.”

RenewableUK is the trade and professional body for the UK wind and marine renewables industries. Formed in 1978, and with more than 670 corporate members, RenewableUK is the leading renewable energy trade association in the UK.
