Brightsource Energy names Matthew Brett Senior Vice President of International Development

  • Mathew Brett Senior Vice President to lead International Development to Capture the Growing Global Demand for Cost-Effective and Reliable Clean Power

BrightSource Energy, Inc., a leading solar thermal technology company, has named Mathew Brett as senior vice president of international development. Brett brings two decades of experience in international energy development and project financing to his role at BrightSource.

“Mathew’s deep understanding of international energy development and project finance will help BrightSource capture the growing global demand for cost-effective and reliable clean power,” said John Woolard, president and CEO of BrightSource Energy. “We’re extremely happy to be adding Mathew to our leadership team and look forward to growing our global business as we deploy our solar thermal technology solutions around the world.” Brett will be based in London where he will expand the company’s global operations.

“BrightSource’s industry-leading solar thermal technology provides an incredibly attractive solution for meeting the low carbon and reliable power needs of utility and industrial customers worldwide,” said Mathew Brett, BrightSource senior vice president of international development. “I’m extremely proud to be joining BrightSource’s world-class team and look forward to further extending BrightSource’s leadership position to global markets.”

Prior to joining BrightSource Energy, Brett co-founded and served as the European CEO of Advanced Power AG, a leading independent developer of gas-fired power plants. While at Advanced Power, he was a member of the advisory board and the senior management committee. During his tenure at InterGen, Brett served as Director of Investment and Portfolio Management and led business development projects throughout Europe, including the development and sale of the Knapsack Power Project and the Aldbrough Gas Storage Company. He began his career in finance with Ernst & Young and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG.

Brett holds a B.A. in Business Studies from the University of Hertfordshire.

BrightSource Energy, Inc. is a leader in the design and development of concentrating solar thermal technology used to produce high-value electricity and steam for power, petroleum and process markets.
