CPS Energy, Solar San Antonio Agree on Commercial Rebate Changes

Working together, CPS Energy and local solar installers, led by Solar San Antonio, agreed on a plan that would lower two commercial solar rebate incentives while providing additional funds to the program. The change provides a solution to depleted funds for solar rebates following a sudden influx of commercial applications. The entities addressed the issue with the hopes of maintaining funding through the end of this year.

Effective June 27, the following solar rebates have changed:

Schools – $2 per AC Watt up to, and including, 25 kW and $1.30 per AC Watt above 25 kW. The maximum rebate for one project will be $80,000.
Currently, schools receive $2.50 per AC Watt up to, and including, 25 kW and $1.30 per AC Watt above 25 kW. The maximum rebate for one project is $100,000.
Commercial, non-school – $1.60 per AC Watt up to and including 25 kW and $1.30 per AC Watt above 25 kW. The maximum rebate for one project will be $80,000 or 50% of the total cost, whichever is less.
Currently, commercial customers receive $2 per AC Watt up to, and including, 25 kW and $1.30 per AC Watt above 25 kW. The maximum rebate for one project is $100,000 or 50% of the total cost, whichever is less.
Residential rebates will remain unchanged for the current time.
Additionally, almost $1.7 million in solar rebate funds left unused from the previous fiscal year will be added to the current year.
