Environmental Review Tribunal decision – Ostrander Point Wind Energy Project

The Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) is reviewing the recently issued decision by Ontario’s Environmental Review Tribunal (ERT) with respect to the Ostrander Point Wind Energy project. Upon initial review, we note that the Tribunal has clearly stated that its review of the evidence found no causal link between wind turbines and either direct or indirect harm to human health at the 550 m set-back distance required in Ontario. In this aspect, the ERT decision is consistent with the balance of expert scientific and medical information which clearly indicates there is no link between wind turbines and human health.

Our members are Canada’s wind energy leaders. They are wind energy owners, operators, manufacturers, project developers, consultants, and service providers, all interested in supporting Canada’s wind energy industry for the benefit of all Canadians – to build a cleaner, stronger future.
