du is expecting to cut 12,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions by end of 2014
Heliocentris receives purchase order for the next 72 turnkey Genset Efficiency Solutions
The Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company – du, has issued an additional order with Heliocentris, the experts in energy efficiency and clean energy solutions, for the next 72 turnkey Genset Efficiency Solutions. With Heliocentris’ solution running meanwhile for more than one year successfully in the field and fulfilling the telecom’s high expectations in terms of energy savings and reliability the next sites will now be upgraded to Heliocentris’ technology.
du has decided to convert all possible off-grid sites to smart hybrid power solutions with the deployment of Heliocentris’ solution. This is in direct support of the UAE Governments strategy towards sustainable energy, and the national objective to reduce diesel consumption and CO2 emission by 50%. The step is a continuation of du’s strategy to adopt green solutions into its infrastructure.
Heliocentris’ Genset Efficiency solutions have helped du significantly in its efforts to go green. They have allowed for a reduction in diesel fuel consumption of more than 1.1 million litres, and a reduction in CO2 emissions of more than 2,500 tons over the course of 2012.
With the continued implementation of these solutions, du expects a yearly saving in fuel consumption of more than 3 million litres and reduction in CO2 emissions of more than 12,000 tonnes, by end of 2014.

The Heliocentris smart hybrid solution involves deep cycling batteries and a smart Energy Manager, which cycles the site’s load between generator and batteries, thereby reducing the run time of the diesel-powered generator significantly.
The conversion project will be managed by Heliocentris Energy FZE, located in Silicon Oasis, Dubai. This underlines the importance of the Middle East Africa region as a growth driver and is at the same time a further sign of Heliocentris’ strong commitment to this region.
