Statement by AWEA Senior Vice President Rob Gramlich on the Resignation of FERC Chairman John Wellinghoff

Names John Wellinghoff a “pioneer of change”

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chairman Jon Wellinghoff announced, Wednesday (May 29), he is resigning his position, but will stay in place until the Senate confirms his successor.

AWEA Senior Vice President, Public Policy offered the following commendation for Chairman Wellinghoff’s years of service and devotion to moving the country to clean, renewable energy:

“Chairman Wellinghoff is a pioneer and strong champion of change overseeing the U.S. electric grid. He respected the role of states, utilities, and various other stakeholders while challenging all of the players to consider new ways of opening the grid to expansion and innovation. He deserves a lot of credit for the much-needed transmission infrastructure expansion that is taking place around the country.”
