SolarCity Opens First Nevada Operations Center in Henderson

SolarCity Surpasses 640 Nevada Employees, More than 1,500 local customers already signed up

SolarCity® (Nasdaq:SCTY) is expanding its Nevada presence with a new 18,000 square foot Henderson Operations Center. SolarCity will use the operations center as its regional hub to install solar for Nevada residents and businesses, starting this week. Henderson is SolarCity’s first operations center in Nevada—joining two Las Vegas locations that house key administrative divisions for the company. This latest expansion pushes SolarCity’s total Nevada staffing over 640 people.

SolarCity, the nation’s largest solar power provider, makes it possible for many Las Vegas area homeowners to install solar panels for free and pay less for solar electricity than they pay for electricity from the local utility. SolarCity can allow Nevada homeowners to go solar for as little as $30 per month, with design, installation, financing, insurance, monitoring and a performance guarantee included. The company has already signed up more than 1,500 new customers and expects to begin installations this month, upon opening of the SolarGenerations program.

The expansion diversifies the categories of solar jobs for the area—with positions now available for installers, site surveyors, electricians and engineers joining the sales and customer account management positions the company had recently based in Nevada. SolarCity already employs 60 at the new facility, and has 70 open positions in Henderson and more than 100 open positions across the state in installation, electrical work, sales and customer account management. Candidates interested in employment opportunities can contact SolarCity via its online jobs form at www.solarcity.com/jobs.

Homeowners in Nevada who are interested in SolarCity’s services can contact the company directly at 1-888-SOL-CITY (1-888-765-2489) for a free, no-obligation solar consultation or visit SolarCity online at www.solarcity.com/request.

The expansion is due in large part to the leadership of Governor Sandoval and the Nevada Legislature to build the clean energy economy in Nevada. The passage of Assembly Bill 428 reformed the SolarGenerations program and provides the framework for the stable growth of jobs and energy choice for residents. Local officials applauded the announcement.

Elected officials welcomed the announcement:

Congressman Joe Heck: “SolarCity is bringing good jobs, building a new local industry and creating a brighter future for the entire region with their new Henderson Operations Center.”

Senator Joyce Woodhouse: “Nevada is famous for our sunshine. Thanks to leaders like SolarCity, we will also be famous for our strong solar industry and clean energy economy.”

Assemblywoman Lesley Cohen: “I applaud the work SolarCity is doing to bring good jobs to our area. I also want to recognize how solar can help us conserve water during this terrible drought by using no water to produce clean energy. Here in Nevada, investing in clean, water efficient energy is critically important to our future.”

Henderson Councilwoman Debra March: “Henderson is proud to welcome SolarCity and their first Nevada Operations Center. We have just one request–Keep creating good jobs for our residents!”
