San Francisco Botanical Garden

  • Inner Sunset, San Francisco, CA, USA

San Francisco Botanical Garden launched its first-ever summer camp program last year, Garden Camp. While the coronavirus pandemic impacted the start of Garden Camp this summer, the local health orders and new Summer Camp Directive permit summer camps in San Francisco to reopen under strict requirements. Changes to Camp are in process to comply with the Directive and we hope to relaunch Garden Camp in July with two 3-week sessions, starting July 6 and concluding August 14. Garden Camp is returning and will serve rising K-4th grade campers with an all-outdoors, immersive full-day program. Garden Camp will connect children to plants through a combination of structured, themed activities and open-ended time to develop curiosity, initiative, imagination, and creativity. Curriculum will revolve around four main themes; gardening, art, wellness, and ecology.

Garden Camp Counselors are members of the Learning and Engagement Department, report to the Garden Camp Director, and work closely with the Director of Learning and Engagement.

Camp Counselors will be responsible for the care, comfort, and safety of campers. Garden Camp Counselors’ primary objectives are to: provide an engaging, fun, educational, age-appropriate, and safe camp experience for campers; provide excellent customer service to parents and caregivers; work collaboratively within the camp team; lead by example; and inform the development of Garden Camp in seasons to come.

The Garden is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to diversity and inclusion; experience working across cultures is an asset.
