Purpose:
+ Plans and conducts aerodynamic research and analysis to support development of guided munitions and high-speed projectiles.
+ Work with a small team of analysts using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to characterize aerodynamic performance of new product designs.
+ Responsible for definition of associated wind tunnel and flight test programs.
+ Work as part of a small, dedicated engineering team to perform aerodynamic and aerodynamics analyses.
+ Define and conduct aerodynamic test programs.
+ Verify conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements.
+ Work with Chief Engineer to
+ Analyze, design, and develop guided munition prototypes that meet stability and control requirements.
+ Verify accuracy of models using wind tunnel test results for subsonic, transonic, and supersonic flows.
+ Prepare presentations for initial, preliminary, and critical design reviews.
+ Write technical reports to document work.
+ Require ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.
+ Position may require extended work hours and/or travel to meet project deadlines.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Master's Degree
Discipline/Major: Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering or Physics
Years and area of experience (required for the role):
+ 5 years related experience, preferably in the Aerospace or Defense industry.
+ Experience developing new flight systems that satisfy detailed performance requirements.
+ Advanced degree may substitute for some experience requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
+ Proficiency with STAR CCM+, Fluent, or equivalent CFD software.
+ Proficiency with general purpose modeling codes such as MATLAB & Simulink.
+ Familiar with semi-empirical analysis codes such as PRODAS, Missile Datcom, MissileLab, etc.
+ Understanding of engineering drawing practices, material properties, and manufacturing processes.
+ Ability to organize work for multiple projects.
+ Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in the English language.
+ Computer proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
$83,565.23 - $125,347.84
