The Agricultural Safety Training Specialist is responsible for developing, scheduling, and delivering safety training to the Agricultural clients. This Agricultural Safety Training Specialist is an integral member of the service team, whose primary goal is to service existing customers and assist in new business development. The role will be comprised of coordinating safety training with existing clients, gathering the necessary materials to complete the training, and presenting the training in English/Spanish to agricultural employees.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists clients by conducting on-site Safety Training activities.

  • Assist clients in gaining compliance with Cal-OSHA worker-safety-related programs, i.e. IIPP, WPS, Heat Illness Prevention, etc.

  • Maintains effective partnerships with customers.

  • Learns about customer’s business in order to identify risk management objectives and needs.

  • Ensures accurate and concise communication and mutual understanding with customers.

  • Conduct presentations to bilingual and/or monolingual groups of various sizes; travel may be required up to 75% of the time.

  • Keeps customers informed of status of services, support material available and outside resources relevant to identify customers’ safety concerns.

  • Assists in securing new business opportunities by demonstrating loss control services and expertise to potential customers.

  • Actively pursues professional development efforts to better meet expectations of client deliverables.

  • Seeks continued knowledge and stays abreast of changes in the insurance industry and other external conditions that may impact their clients. Makes appropriate recommendations to clients in response to those changes; Attends industry related continuing education training and courses.

  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Can sit out of any HUB Ventura, Fresno, Santa Barbara or Santa Maria offices.                                                                                   

Qualifications

  • High School / GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • 2+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education & experience

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required

  • Property & Causality License or wiliness to obtain within first 6 months

  • Instructor Certification and/or experience in Forklift, Tractor, Pesticide (WPS) and other agricultural related topics preferred

  • Must have and maintain an active driver’s license

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and responsibilities in order to complete assignments on time and with optimal accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently with limited daily supervision and to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Confidence and demeanor to effectively interact with all levels within the organization.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and/or the general public.

  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing with internal and external customers in English and Spanish.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook. 

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.

  • Ability to ready, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to efficiently gather pertinent information and facts, analyze and solve problems timely and thoroughly.

  • Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • This position primarily involves remaining in a stationary position for the majority of the workday.

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with colleagues and clients both in person and on the telephone; Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc

EEOAA Policy

The expected salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000/yr and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position's business line, scope and level. Required Education: Associate degree (2-year degree)
