RWE is hiring a strategic, collaborative leader who will be a driver of success in its fast-growing US offshore wind business. At RWE you will be a part of a dynamic and expanding team where developing clean energy solutions, building strong workign relationships, and taling a hands-on approach to problem solving and decision making are an integral part of you daily work.


Functionally, your home team will be Development Services US. You will be staffed into US project teams, where you will be a key member of each project’s Senior Management Team. The role typically includes some external representation and domestic and international travel.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional project management skills, a refined strategy toolkit, a track record of collaborating across functions and borders, strong commercial acumen, and experience communicating with senior executives.


Key Responsibilities:


As a Bid Manager you will:

  • Lead and be responsible for devising and implementing bid strategies to ensure the offshore wind business wins deliverable and value accretive offtake contracts.

  • Coordinate across the project team to set the workplan to deliver the bid, including preparation and management of schedules to complete bid packages and to obtain internal and (if applicable) partner approvals.

  • Understand and disseminate specific bid requirements and evaluation criteria, notably project viability, local content, environment and fisheries impacts, transmission, etc.

  • Define the bid strategy based on identification of key success factors, generation of options and evaluation of potential trade-offs.

  • Drive alignment to and implementation of the bid strategy with the project team

  • Advise internal stakeholders on all bid related topics and project requirements, including coordination across workstreams (e.g., technical, permitting, HSE) and “early and often” communication with senior management

  • Contribute to the identification of key levers and implementation thereof into the project’s business case to increase the competitiveness and deliverability of the bid.

  • Manage large cross-functional teams of internal and external colleagues with diverse skillsets to prepare written bid materials.

  • Ensure bid submissions achieve compliance with all requirements and regulations.

  • Coordinate, prepare and submit all bid-related documents, including any pre-qualification requirements, clarifying Q&A and bid submissions.

  • Develop subject matter expertise on US offshore wind markets, including varying state offtake mechanisms and relevant state and federal policies toward offshore wind.

  • Develop protocols for bidding in partnerships (if applicable)

  • Ensure best practice approaches and tools are shared across bids. 


Your Experience & Skills:


  • Degree in business administration, engineering, renewable energy or similar disciplines.

  • A minimum of 4-5 year track record in commercial strategy development, managing project bids/tenders and / or leading work within business development projects.

  • Gravitas to lead a diverse, often virtual, team across international borders and manage multiple stakeholders, and the confidence and determination to take responsibility and ownership of multiple projects at any one time.

  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to persuade, challenge and build credibility at all levels, across functions of the business.

  • Proven stakeholder management experience, including with external parties

  • Ability to make recommendations and implement decisions effectively in a manner consistent with sound bid management principles, and in a timely manner, while reporting key issues to the Project Director.

  • General understanding of the components of offshore wind assets including cost drivers and key risks and opportunities is desirable.

  • A track record of personal responsibility for driving own development & career growth, broadening your professional competencies, skills and own learnings across commercial, technical, legal and policy fields.

  • A flexible approach as some domestic and international travel and attendance of meetings outside of home time zone can be expected.

  • Excellent English writing, speaking, and presentation skills.
