Job Description

Precision Planting is passionate about using science and technology to improve agriculture. The Precision Planting team develops innovative products that improve the lives of growers and make agriculture more sustainable, efficient, and profitable. The Precision Planting Computer Data Science Intern will receive handson experience in many different areas of product development based in Tremont, Illinois. This paid internship will focus on projects which apply cutting edge artificial intelligence and machine learning technology to new on-equipment precision agriculture products in development. The Internship may include the following:

- Work with data science and computer vision engineering teams to assist in ML model development and training

- Apply data science for deploying to edge computer vision products that detecting crop and field features on agriculture equipment while operating in field applications

- Develop algorithms that extract information from image data sets analyze

- Work with data engineering teams to assist with image and metadata taxonomy, such that data is managed efficiently in a way to enable required analytics

Required Skills/Experience

- Current enrollment in BS or MS degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, or equivalent

- Experience in Python

- Exposure to open-source ML frameworks such as OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch

- Exposure to data engineering for ML applications

- Strong communication skills and experience being a flexible team player

- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0/4.0

- Personal Transportation

- Willingness to relocate to the Peoria/Bloomington, IL area

Desired Skills/Experience

- Exposure to application of data science in computer vision applications

- Exposure to sensing, robotics, machine control, and embedded system development

- Experience in C and C++
