Job Description
+ Perform D&D work activities that include the removal of radioactive materials and components to support MEL project activities.
+ Perform operations within radiological containments including glove bags to support equipment/material removal.
+ Upgrades to MEL infrastructure where radiological controls may be required.
+ Characterize, minimize, segregate, and package waste for disposal focusing on what is contained in the MEL shielded cells.
+ Lifting and handling operations of equipment or structures as necessary to support MEL work.
+ Utilize contamination controls, work practices and personal protective equipment to remove contaminated materials.
+ Maintain required materials and equipment.
Qualifications
+ A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
+ Industrial, demolition, environmental, radiological or related experience is preferred.
+ Performs D&D operations required to remove radioactivity in strict compliance with radiological work procedures.
+ Specific functions include set up and operation of radiological work areas, set up and operation in radiological containments, handling and packaging of radioactive material, and manual D&D operations.
+ Approximately six-months of site-specific training at the Buyer facility will be required to be fully qualified to perform work.
+ Must be able to obtain an “L” Security Clearance.
+ Holding an existing clearance is preferred.
+ Requires background investigation resulting in a DOE "L" security clearance.
