Job Description

Responsible for overseeing all financial activity and personnel at the assigned location while ensuring all activities comply with AGCO policies/procedures, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) standards.  Financial activities include but are not limited to Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounting, Fixed Asset Accounting, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Account Payable, monthly/yearly financial closings, monthly financial and management reporting, strategic business planning, financial forecasting, financial budgeting, audits, capital project work, and ad hoc analysis work.  Further, a comprehensive set of financial controls will be maintained to minimize or eliminate risks to the business.  The Controller will seek to continuously improve financial operations, as well as assist other functions in their efforts to improve themselves. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Finance, NA.

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates all finance and accounting operational functions.

  • Manages the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of location results.

  • Coordinates and prepares financial and management reports, as well as provides interpretation and guidance of those reports.

  • Profit & Loss Management of an annual $100MM business

  • Monitors and confirms financial condition (GAAP and SOX compliance) by conducting audits and providing information to external and internal auditors.

  • Provides management with information vital to the decision-making process to maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.

  • Manages and prepares the annual budget process, ensuring achievement to budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

  • Manages and prepares the 3 main financial forecast processes, ensuring achievement to the forecast objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

  • Manages and prepares the annual Strategic Budget Plan in coordination with AGCO’s larger strategic aims.

  • Manages Accounts Payable activity, insuring timely and correct payment of vendor invoices.

  • Manages Fixed Asset Accounting activity, including administration of the Capital Spending program.

  • Manages Cost Accounting activity in a ‘standard cost’ environment, including annual cost rolls.

  • Manages Inventory Accounting activity in a fully implemented ERP environment.

  • Manages financial integration of the non-financial modules to the financial modules such that automated entries to the GL and made accurately.

  • Assesses current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed.

  • Develops and monitors business performance metrics.

  • Hires, trains, and retains skilled finance and accounting staff.

  • Provides expertise in how the financial system interacts inside the ERP system.  Able to mine data from the ERP database to answer queries and conduct ad hoc analysis.

  • Responds to requests for support from other functions in timely and effective manner.

Acts as a financial advisor to the Site Leader.

  • 10 years of experience in a manufacturing accounting setting as a controller, accountant, financial analyst, etc.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management about the finances of the business and justify certain financial recommendations.

  • Attention to detail and deadlines.

  • Basic math skills to make accurate calculations and estimates.

  • Working knowledge of U.S. finance standards, laws and regulatory standards (GAAP & SOX)

  • Organizational and project management skills.

  • Above average Excel skills.

Minimum Education

           Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent

Prefer Professional certification, including CMA, CGA, of CPA

Years of Business Experiance

         10 years of experience in a manufacturing accounting setting as a controller, accountant, financial analyst, etc
