Job Description:

The Coordinator for Student Advocacy & Accountability is a professional hourly (non-exempt) position paid on a biweekly basis. This position will be eligible for overtime upon administrative/supervisor approval.

The Coordinator for Student Advocacy & Accountability (SAA) reports to the Associate Dean of Students and Director and assists in the day-to-day operations of the department. Serving as the first point of contact for the department, the Coordinator is also responsible for the management of sanction compliance, disciplinary records, student grievances, SAA website maintenance, and supervision of student workers. The Coordinator also assists with financial transactions for the department and other duties as assigned by leadership in the department.


  • Manages the day-to-day operations and customer service of SAA including student disciplinary records, sanction compliance, and university registration holds.
  • Manage student grievances by directing the student to the appropriate process or department to address the grievance.
  • Assists departmental leadership with project management.
  • Works collaboratively across campus and community partners to support students.
  • Oversees website management and online resources for SAA.


Developing a comprehensive student engagement and education program

The Coordinator will lead efforts to develop and implement a comprehensive student engagement and education program aimed at promoting responsible behavior and support for students.

Administrative Support (60%): Responsible for day-to-day operations for SAA through administrative management, to include, but not limited to, exceptional customer service, catering to both in-person visitors and efficient management of departmental phone and email communication, financial transactions, scheduling, departmental correspondence, website management, student workers, disciplinary records, and sanction compliance. Works closely with the SAA conduct database (Maxient), and generates statistical reports necessary to document the impact of the department. Hires, supervises, and trains student workers.

Direct Student Support (20%):  Assist students on care and conduct cases by providing frontline advocacy and support. Translates department efforts, initiatives, and goals to students through interactions at programs, services, events, presentations, and experiences. Responsible for case management of student grievances.

Quality Control (15%): Ensures every aspect of administrative and financial outputs including administrative tasks, implementation, and overall processes exudes a high degree of quality. Embraces and executes the marginal gains approach and seeks to increase the level of all services, events, programs, and experiences in SAA for continuous improvement every academic year.

Others Duties As Assigned (5%): Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean and Director of SAA. This includes but is not limited to: efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including at least 40 hours per year spent helping divisional initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Career Expo, Disability Services Finals Testing, or other special projects etc.


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education


  • 1 or more years of experience in higher education, or closely related setting


Ability and willingness to work some evening and weekend hours.

As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students, or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
