Job Description:

Chair of the Department of Finance in the E.J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University.  The selected candidate will hold an appointment to the Lloyd F. Collette Endowed Chair of Financial Services.

The department chair is responsible for the overall management and operation of the Finance department, including the leadership of faculty, the recruitment of faculty members; the connection to the academic and professional associations, maintenance of contact with alumni, expanding opportunities for students pursuing careers in finance, and maintaining the vitality of the program in terms of its academics, its research productivity, and its service around the state and nation.  The chair will also teach and conduct research.

Job Responsibilities:

50% - Provide academic leadership and management of the department. Assume responsibility for the quality, effectiveness, and progress of the department. Leading the departmental faculty to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Foster and enhance the department’s vital connection with the finance profession. Work with college leadership, alumni, corporate partners, and development officers to enhance and expand opportunities for students pursuing careers in finance. 

35% -Conduct research in the field of finance and publish the results of this scholarship in nationally recognized, top-tier academic journals.  Maintain personal visibility in nationally respected academic organizations through participation in symposia, and service as journal editor, etc.

15% - Effectively teach course(s) in graduate and undergraduate programs

Minimum Qualifications:

Education level: PhD in Finance or related field

Specific Experience: Possess a record of scholarship commensurate with appointment as an endowed academic chair
