Digital Communications Specialist

The College of Human Sciences & Education (CHSE) consists of five schools, two laboratory schools and four centers and institutes. The College offers 13 majors, 8 minors, 21+ master’s and doctoral programs, and several of the university’s largest online programs. With approximately 2,000 undergraduates, 1,800 graduate students we are the third largest college on LSU’s main campus. The primary role of this position is assisting in the execution of the College of Human Science & Education’s digital communications strategy as well as providing support to all departments and units in the areas of social media strategy, digital marketing and communications, web development, and email management. This position will also coordinate the college’s special campaigns.

40% Social Media Strategist: Responsible for all inquiries that come into the Dean's Office. Assists in Creation and execution of the college's social media strategy through content planning and scheduling; utilizing all digital platforms to grow the college’s online presence, use digital communications platforms to effectively promote the college and its students, faculty, staff, and alumni; grow following and engagement on all platforms through both organic and paid marketing approaches; testing out new strategies and platforms; and use social media analytics to assess social media engagement strategies and generate quarterly reports for the college’s communications team.

40% Website Content: Procure, maintain, and update content on the college’s websites; assist with creation and implementation of updates to improve the usability, performance, and appearance of the websites; assist departments with their website development and manage issues as they arise; maintain website content; and incorporate search engine optimization and analytics.

10% Video Content: Generate video ideas and coordinate and produce video material to share on the website and social media channels that feature the college’s faculty, staff, students, and facilities; work in conjunction with the college’s communications team on editorial, design, and budgetary responsibility for all video projects.

5% Digital Marketing: Generate and/or coordinate digital media materials and advertisements to promote college initiatives, work in conjunction with college's communications team on editorial, design, and budgetary responsibility for all digital marketing projects.

5% Other: Perform other duties/special projects as assigned by Director of Communications. Works Collaboratively with the Office of Communications and University Relations and adheres to the standards set therein.

Due to the nature of the position and/or responsibilities, in times of emergencies and/or University Closures, this position is considered essential. It may be required to assist the Office of Communications and University Relations on necessary communications matters in times of crisis, including potentially working in LSU's Emergency Operations Center during those times. **Ability to work some evenings or weekends for special events and activities; some travel may be required** Physical ability and eye-hand coordination necessary to use a computer/laptop/iPad; ability to sit and/or stand in the same position for extended periods (3.5 to 4 hours) at a time.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field with 3 years of work experience which includes two years of experience with communications or marketing in a university setting
