The DRIVER/LABORER is responsible for all groundwork, including but not limited to the operation of various pieces of power equipment. This person frequently assists the Crew Leader, Aerial Lift Operator, or Tree Climber with aspects of their work. Driver/Laborer responsibilities may include:
- Proper use of PPE
- Defensive driving
- Parking and backing vehicles
- Work-zone, landing-zone, drop-zone guidelines
- Job site hazard inspections
- Setting up and positioning chipper
- Traffic control
- Proper chipper operation
- Equipment preparation and start up
- Basic knots and handling ropes
- Avoiding struck-by injuries
- Dragging and stacking brush
- Operation and storage of chain saws, gas and oil
- *MUST hold a Class-A CDL license.
The Driver/Laborer position require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Must be able to life 50 pounds
- Must be able to bend and stand for long periods of time
- Working conditions sometimes include both high heat and cold temperatures
