EH&S Coordinator - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Euclid, OH 


The position of EH&S Coordinator is available for the Nuclear Operations Group facility in Euclid, Ohio. The EH&S Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of company EHS programs. This individual is also responsible for providing technical support to Company leadership and manufacturing personnel by actively leading the design and development of methods to reduce occupational hazards.


 


Responsibilities:



  • Providing technical support and verifying compliance with company Environmental Health and Safety policies, Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, EPA regulations and other related and regulatory standards, guidelines and best practices.

  • Keeping abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.

  • Scheduling, coordinating and conducting EHS audits and inspections in order to identify and assist in correcting unsafe and unhealthy work conditions or practices.

  • Communicating results of audits and overall Health and Safety performance to management as necessary.

  • Gather data for trending/evaluation and present data utilizing Microsoft Office or other EHS systems to management.

  • Implementing procedures for group medical programs, accident reporting, employee training, and EHS record keeping to ensure that the frequency of work-related accidents, injuries and illnesses does not create a significant financial impact to the company.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of EHS programs and policies and implementing corrective action.

  • Assist EHS Manager in facilitating EHS leadership meetings.

  • Partners with management to ensure that projects are supported and completed on time and within the allotted budget.

  • Assist the Facilities Department during construction related activities and ensure contractors follow OSHA 1926 Construction requirements.

  • Perform safety orientation training for all new hire employees and contractors.

  • Provide annual OSHA required training to designated employees.


 


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Minimum of six (6) years experience in Environmental, Health and Safety practices and program implementation.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety or related field.

  • Experience in a machining, welding, or other metal-working environment would be a plus.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must.

  • Ability to obtain/maintain CPR, First Aid, and other First Responder certifications.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance. 



Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Position requires U.S. citizenship with (no dual citizenship) ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
