Job Description:

Job Summary: The Division of Finance and Administration’s Financial Accountant reports to the Associate Vice President of Finance & Administration – Chief of Staff. This position is responsible for the compilation, preparation, review, and submission of accounting transactions and reports on the LSU System level for the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer and Vice President for Finance & Administration. A successful candidate must exhibit a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.  

Job Responsibilities:

40%- Governmental and Institutional Reporting - Assists in preparing responses to requests from various stakeholders including but not limited to: 1) monitoring and compiling fiscal note requests to report potential financial impact to all LSU System campuses of bills proposed during legislative session; 2) coordination and compilation of the Quarterly Receivable & Bad Debt Report to the Louisiana Office of Statewide Reporting and Accounting Policy; 3) coordination and compilation of the annual Accounts Receivable Write-off Report for Board of Supervisors approval; 6) coordination and compilation of the LSU System Investment Report; 7) coordination and preparation of the Semi-Annual Financial Report to the LSU Board of Supervisors; 8) coordination and compilation of the Affiliated Entities Quarterly Reimbursement Report; 9) coordination and compilation of ad hoc reports for Board of Regents, etc.

30%-Departmental Accounting– Completes accounting and business transactions in LSU’s Workday Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system including deposits of checks, creation of journal entries, creation of procurement requisitions, and invoice processing. Monitors and reconciles ledgers for Finance and Administration departmental and LSU Foundation accounts. 

25%-Assists with Budget Preparation – Reviews, coordinates, and compiles all LSU system campuses’ budget request forms for submission to the Board of Regents and the Louisiana Office of Planning and Budget.

5%-Other Duties as Assigned – Assists with special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with at least one year of relevant experience in higher education
