Job Description:

Monitor the portfolio for the Center for Analytics and Research in Transportation Safety (CARTS) and College of Business' grants (pre and post-award). This position will be responsible for the successful implementation of activities in accordance with grant contract terms and agency requirements, as well as ensure compliance with federal, state and university policies and regulations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

35% - CARTS: Manages the financial aspects of grant activity for the Center for Analytics and Research in Transportation Safety. Support the faculty and staff by preparing and monitoring budgets for the federal and state grants awarded by various sponsors. Assist in the grant writing / renewal process.  Prepare monthly reconciliations of grant activity including expenditures and encumbrances.  Works closely with the Office of Sponsored Programs and Sponsored Program Accounting to effectively manage the submission of grants and post award reconciliation / close-out. 
Proactively searches for new grant opportunities for CARTS.

35% - COB: Work with the College of Business faculty on grant writing, budget preparation, and submission of grants.  Work with the Office of Sponsored Programs and Sponsored Program Accounting to properly submit and comply with all grant related responsibilities.  Oversee problematic changes such as no-cost extensions, budget revisions, cost sharing commitments and changes in scope.  Assists the Principal Investigator with monitoring the grant activities and ensuring each program is compliant with applicable sponsor, federal and college requirements.

10% - CARTS: As Cost Center Manager for the Center for Analytics and Research in Transportation Safety, perform monthly reconciliation of all budgets through Workday reporting. Approve spend authorizations, expense reports, supplier invoices and purchase orders. Hold monthly budget meeting with Executive Director and Director of CARTS to keep informed of grant balances. Monitor the salary saving account as well as the associated Foundation account for CARTS.

10% - COB: Identify and research potential funding opportunities and advertise them to the college via email and faculty presentations.  Ability to interpret and understand grant application guidelines and requirements. Responsible for educating faculty and staff on the financial, legal, and regulatory terms and conditions associated with the grant through its life cycle. (pre-award and post-award through close-out)

5% - CARTS: Responsible for Graduate Assistant hiring and costing as needed for CARTS grant activities.

5% - COB: Effectively utilize the Geaux Grants and Workday operating systems to ensure that all required documentation and personnel actions are entered timely and properly according to the terms of the grant.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in a business-related field with 3+ years of related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 5+ years of experience in higher education, focusing on grants, research, and graduate studies.
