Overview






Halifax Health is seeking a Groundskeeper for our Facility Operations Department.









Summary






Maintains hospital grounds including landscaping, shrubbery, and parking area. Assists in other areas of maintenance as directed.









Job Qualifications






  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Sufficient experience to acquire a general knowledge of landscaping and horticulture or a minimum of two years experience in using and minor repair of grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Years of experience determined by quality of assignments related to position responsibility.
  • Skills in verbal and written communication required.
  • Ability to operate landscaping equipment to include power mowers, edgers, pruning equipment, spraying equipment, etc.








Job Duties and Responsibilities






  • Maintains hospital grounds and equipment including:
    • cleans hospital grounds and parking areas of debris and litter
    • mows, prunes, edges, weeds, fertilizes, waters and chemically sprays landscaping
    • repairs parking lot pavement areas including: minor asphalt repair and curb repair
  • Performs maintenance on ground equipment including:
    • operates landscaping equipment
    • repairs and maintains landscaping equipment: changes oil, plugs, and belts
    • performs preventative maintenance
  • Assembles and maintains landscaping sprinkler system
  • Install landscapes including plants, trees, shrubbery and turf
  • Assist in performing maintenance of other areas including: cleaning, repairing, etc., as directed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
