At the direction of ENGIE's HSE & IPOS Director in Houston, the Health and Safety Senior Advisor will assist in development and implementation of a Health and Safety (H&S) Management System that encompasses standards of excellence, programs, policies, procedures and processes (4Ps) for ENGIE Energy Solutions (ES) NA, with a focus on supporting the Major Partnerships/CapEx Entity. This position is responsible for partnering with all Business Entities and Operating Companies' H&S staff to influence an organizational culture that leads to an injury free working environment.
This position is eligible to sit in Columbus, OH or Washington, D.C.
What you'll do:
Support development and evolution of a health & safety strategic plan in collaboration with executive leadership and H&S staff throughout ENGIE North America. The plan must address working environments in thermal power generation and energy distribution plants, new construction solar sites, facility O&M management, and the HVAC mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) contractors in the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) construction fields. Experience with wind is a plus
Support H&S database management and provides required monthly statistical reports to ES NorAm Business Unit (BU) corporate and Business Entity (BE) executives. Trackthe performance and progress of ENGIE SE NorAm action plans, programs and processes
Conduct regular onsite training, supervision, compliance audits, incident investigations, and safety cultural assessments
As directed, lead serious incident investigations into High Potential (HiPo) incidents, including those that result in a lost time accident. ApplyRoot Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) tools when conducting investigations to determine causal factors. Identifycountermeasures to prevent recurrence and eliminate deviations from the standard
Provide guidance and actas a role model for BE H&S full time professionals, plant managers, front line supervisors and general foremen in the effective implementation of the 4Ps
Support design of the ES NorAm H&S Management System in accordance with the ISO 18001 standard. Ensureconformance to the standard results in compliance to the regulation. Researchnew or revised OSHA regulatory requirements. Anticipatechanges and updatethe 4Ps as required with follow on training for effective implementation
Support development of the ES NorAm H&S budget in collaboration with the BEs' H&S staff
Manage the selection of third-party H&S auditors, consultants and contractors
Has a strong, proven track record of creating positive rapport with field personnel. Support and implement a communication strategy that promotes leadership engagement between management, front line supervisors, foremen, technician / craft personnel and contractors to create a culture where H&S is a principle and not a priority
Support implementation of observation programs that focus on pre-job/task activities. Ensure the Job Safety Plan process permeates down to the granularity of the specific task assigned
Benchmark the current state of power generation, O&M service and construction-oriented safe work procedures against a "Best in Class" standard. Orchestrate plans to close identified gaps in coordination with ES NorAm BE H&S staff
Coordinate reviews of contractor safety plans and procedures to assure their standard is equal or more stringent than ES NorAm's safety criteria as stipulated in the procurement Terms & Conditions. Audit to ensure contractor H&S contractual obligations are understood and respected
