Job Description

HR across Statkraft is continuously working to enable good organisational and people development, and the best possible day-to-day employee experience for our Statkraft colleagues. We are currently seeking a HR Manager for our US Trading & Origination Business. The role can be based in either our San Francisco or Stamford, Connecticut office and will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of strategic and proactive HR support to all leaders and employees in the US.  

To be successful in this role, you must understand local needs as well as business priorities and translate them into high impact work. We envision that you have a flexible skill set, the ability to think strategically, execute tactically, and collaborate across many teams, levels, and situations. As the HR manager in the US, you will have a solid reporting line to the Country Manager for the US and a dotted reporting line to the VP Business Support/Head of Local HR – UK, US & Northern Europe. 

Your role: 

  • Overall responsibility for Local HR in the US. Areas of responsibility will include but not limited to full cycle HR –, On and offboarding, Goal and Development dialogue process, Learning and Development, Policies and procedures, Benefits and compensation management, Payroll, HR Administration, immigration etc 

  • Be responsible for implementation of HR strategies, HR deliveries and processes in US, and ensure the execution of mission-critical processes 

  • Act as the interface between all external provider for HR for example ADP  

  • Initially be responsible for payroll administration with ADP, and management of that interface 

  • Serve as a trusted partner for senior leaders located in US ensuring the establishment of sound people management practices and the implementation of consistent decision-making processes 

  • Coach leaders in the application of HR procedures, processes, and tools, providing the necessary feedback on their effectiveness to the global owners, suggesting improvements and ensuring compliance is maintained 

  • Support leaders to identify, prioritize and build organizational capabilities, behaviours, and structures 

  • Promote change management and help leaders to change and deal with possible barriers 

  • Run integrated actions to strengthen engagement across business units and functions to ensure One HR approach in Statkraft US 

  • Cross-Coordination with Tax, Finance, and global team for occasional international assignments 

  • Responsible for management of Visa process for current and prospective employees  

  • Provide local expertise to guide policies and processes, and ensure legal compliance in US 

  • Manage the budget and other financial measures of the HR department 

  • Be the first point of contact and provide proactive HR advice for employees and leaders in US on a range of HR topics 

  • Support management teams and leaders locally in a  

  • Deliver HR services in coordination with the HR network in Statkraft to ensure great HR support with consistent quality for leaders. 

  • Collaborate with the HR network to help design and deliver global processes and activities locally. 

  • Develop, define, and implement specific local processes and concepts based on local needs, where these are not covered by global processes and initiatives. 

  • Ensure adherence to employer responsibilities and related legislation, agreements, and policies in US through solid advisory to leaders.   

  • Advise other parts of the HR organisation on local conditions, needs and legislation to reduce risk and ensure global processes and initiatives are well implemented in US. 

Qualifications

  • A degree or master’s in human resources or related field and a full qualification with SHRM 

  • Extensive experience from operational and strategic HR roles in international companies 

  • Experience working and collaborating within a global matrix structure   

  • Experience in a similar country HR role and familiarity with US Employment legislations  

  • An understanding of US immigration processes 

  • Strong business understanding and ability to provide data-driven advice to leaders 

  • Self-driven, assertive and solution oriented 

  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work efficiently with others to deliver 

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written  

  • Because the US team is currently mainly our Markets Business area an understanding of markets, trading and origination will be an advantage but not essential
