Job Description
**Employment:** Full-Time -- Mon through Fri**                        Pay Scale:** $34.62 to $36.28 plus $13.80 in fringe benefits

**Responsibilities:**

1. Employee shall assist in the repair, maintenance, construction, installation and reconditioning of roadway signing, roadway lighting, traffic signals, airport lighting and communication cable type projects.

**Communication:**

1. Employee shall effectively interact with the public, customers, co-workers and supervisors. Cognitive Tasks: 1. Employee shall be able to comprehend, retain and follow oral and written instructions.
2. Employee shall listen, analyze and exercise good judgement in problem solving.
3. Employee shall participate in professional development and in provided instruction and training.

**Essential Function: Employee must be able to**:

1. Travel as project locations require by providing own lodging and transportation. Miller Cable Company works throughout Ohio, West Virginia, and Western Pennsylvania.
2. Strategically place traffic control devices.
3. Properly lift tools, objects, and equipment of varying weight. 4. Have dexterous use of both hands and previous experience using hand tools. 5.  Work outdoors in adverse weather conditions such as wet, wind and hot/cold temperature extremes.
4. Operate vehicles used for hauling purposes.
5. Shovel waste material, soil, sand, aggregate, concrete, and hot asphalt.
6. Thread and place conduits.
7. Operating equipment such as air compressors, jackhammers, aerial bucket and tamping equipment.
8. Reel, unreel, coil and pull wire and hose.
9. Work at various heights required for the installation of roadway signing, traffic signals, roadway lights and communication cables.
10. Work with materials of varying chemical compositions.

**NOTE:**   This is strenuous work requiring good corrected vision, hearing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, striking and thrusting due to the construction activity associated with the position. It also requires full physical agility and eye/ hand coordination.

**Definition of Work Environment**:

10. Limited access to work area.
11. Exposure to live utilities such as electric, gas, water, etc.

**Required Licenses and Conditions:**

1. Ability to perform all of the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation and without creating a direct threat to the safety of oneself or others.
2. Maintain a valid class A CDL driver's license.
3. Ability to satisfactorily pass a pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screen.
4. Participation in Miller Cable Company collective bargaining agreements.

**Required Training:**

1. Employee must have or receive the 16 hours (two day program) STP "Safety Training Passport" program certified by the U.S Department of Labor in accordance with OSHA safety and health standards.
2. Employee must have or receive IMSA "International Municipal Signal Association" Traffic Signal Level One certification and Work Zone Safety Certification. This is a three-(3) day program.
