Summary About the Position: You will serve as the supervisor over a 4-5 member maintenance staff. Responsibilities Serve as supervisor over the maintenance staff under the direction of the Operations Project Manager, exercising supervisory responsibility for control over work operations involving approximately three to five subordinate workers. Operate vehicles up to one and one-half tons and Load Handling Equipment (LHE) such as cranes, fork lifts and hoists. Maintain reports and records as required and forwards to District Office as necessary. Plan distribution of work to subordinate on a day to-day or project-to-project basis within the instructions and time limits provided. Responsible for designating workers for the various tasks and assigns work. Responsible for employee selection and training and development, management-employee relations, equal employment opportunities, alcohol and drug abuse, etc., scheduling and approving leave for subordinates. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to Supervise. Perform and direct the performance of maintenance and repair duties on electrical and mechanical equipment, plumbing systems, and carpentry and welding projects in accordance with established trade standards; experience at the journeyman level in at least one of the following trades: electrical, mechanical, plumbing and/or carpentry; experience performing administrative duties associated with leadership and facility management such as establishing shop deadlines and priorities, maintaining production reports/records and assigning and evaluating work of staff. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Uses moderate physical effort to stack, load, unload, move and carry tools, equipment and materials ranging in weight from 10 lbs to 50 lbs unassisted. Occasionally lifts heavier objects with assistance (e.g., using a hand truck). Required to reach, walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Occasionally works in cramped quarters, or from ladders, scaffolds or platform Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.) and usually in a dirty, dusty and/or greasy environment. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shocks, burns, cuts, bruises, maimed fingers and scrapes. Occasionally is required to wear uncomfortable protective clothing. Education cannot be substituted for experience for this position. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Supervisory probationary period may be required. Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation. Direct deposit of pay is required.
