HX5 is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected Lead Mechanical Engineer will work with other engineers, analysts, and designers to develop and design hardware for various NASA projects. These projects will be wide-ranging, and may include NASA space-flight hardware, wind tunnel models, research rigs, and facility improvements. The candidate will be responsible for developing design concepts and engineering packages in accordance with NASA and industry standards. The candidate will work on multiple projects at the same time, acting as a project manager and lead engineer, and will be responsible for coordinating technical efforts to meet various project schedules. The candidate shall have strong communication skills and be proactive in identifying issues and finding solutions, as well as managing labor and funding resources.
Extensive experience in mechanical hardware design, complex mechanisms, and structures
Project management experience on aerospace and spaceflight hardware systems, or similar fields
Lead Engineer on multiple complex projects with oversight of engineering, analysts, designers, etc.
Strong knowledge of design principles, structural analysis, and design standards like ASME Y14.5
Strong experience with Creo/Solidworks software, including large assemblies and drawing packages
Desired Skills and Experience:
Structural analysis experience using Creo Simulate, ANSYS, FEMAP, NASTRAN, etc.
Ability to interface with multiple NASA customers and manage resources
Experience using Windchill PLM software (or similar) for configuration management of models, drawings, and associated data, including drawing release and revision
Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree from ABET accredited program with the following education and experience:
Bachelor's degree and 10 years of relevant experience
Master's degree and 6 years of relevant experience
Other Position Requirements:
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
