Alumni Ventures is seeking a Principal Developer for New York, NY office.
This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 5 years of professional experience in writing and maintaining full stack web applications. Specifically requires use of JavaScript along with PHP using SQL / NoSQL databases and using AWS infrastructure incl. object-oriented programming and/or functional programming.
Expectations:
- Support design, development, and implementation of AV’s proprietary cloud-based venture software platform.
- Customize software and respond to both emergency requests and maintenance requirements as a leader and contributor to AV’s existing engineering function.
- Develop and deliver quality, custom software applications to be leveraged by AV’s business and operations functions.
- Architect new projects from scratch.
- Write clean, readable and well-documented code.
- Develop unit tests to ensure application quality. Document new and existing application features.
- Coordinate tasks with designers, develops and project management to ensure timely delivery of software features.
- Rapidly and effectively respond to emergent business needs including request for design, build, upgrade and modification across AV’s portfolio of application.
- Provide ongoing maintenance and support for existing systems and platforms via proactive analysis, problem-solving and solution identification.
- Effectively mentor junior engineering staff members.
- Lead and manage through hands-on development and coding.
- Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility.
- Collaborate with other professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications.
- Define all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards.
- Communicate successfully all concepts and guidelines to development.
