Job Description
This position is responsible for day-to-day oversight of the performance and safety of assigned locations’ Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) processing plant and landfill gas wellfield operations – whether by 3rd party or internal staff.  The incumbent will implement business plan goals and objectives and meet or exceed financial goals for each facility while leading regulatory compliance and owner/operator relations.  This position reports to the Senior Director of Asset Management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Manage the second-level interactions and accountability related to contracts with 3rd parties, including site owners/operators, operations, SCADA, wellfield, and regulatory compliance.
    • Manage first-level contact with equipment and support vendors, negotiating contracts and commercial pricing and holding them accountable for timely support, parts supply, and warranties.
    • Support periodic scheduled maintenance events to ensure one-time re-start and safety during each event.
    • Prepare detailed budgets for plant and wellfield operations, balancing financial performance and operational budget.
    • Understand the process design and operational aspects of energy systems and equipment at assigned locations.
    • Interpret P&IDs and field drawings to recognize operational system or pipeline anomalies and respond to operational and emergency situations by providing support to contractors, engineers, and vendors.
    • Partner with maintenance teams to determine preventive maintenance scheduling intervals and work to maintain, update, and improve the operational efficiency of the computerized maintenance management system.
    • Prepare and submit purchase orders requests, develop sources for stock materials and perform periodic checks of inventory levels and equipment conditions.
    • Develop and deliver training methods, materials, and programs relative to facility operating standards, safety, and pipeline compliance.
    • Ensure the availability of an adequate inventory of tools and supplies to operate the facilities.
    • Act as site lead for FERC/PHMSA pipeline compliance and provide oversight to existing pipeline subcontractors.
    • Compile data and information and prepare monthly site operational, compliance and safety reports.
    • Requires travel to support assigned facilities within region and travel to corporate office in Atlanta at least once a month.  Travel up to 60% as required. 

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Other duties as assigned driven by business needs and assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide day-to-day oversight of the performance and safety of assigned locations’ Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) processing plan and landfill gas wellfield operations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: (including certification, licenses, etc.)

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
    • 7 to 15 years’ relevant experience in operational leadership. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Flexible, independent, self-motivated individual, able to multi-task, and provide leadership to others.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; technical writing, phone, email, and chat etiquette.
    • Strong interpersonal, leadership, motivational and social skills
    • Advanced computer skills (i.e., email, cloud-based file storage, web browser, MS Office, etc.)
    • Strong technical knowledge in energy systems, environmental regulations, and site safety
    • Ability to work through ambiguous challenges to solve or escalate as needed.
