The Regulatory Affairs Team is responsible for developing and maintaining the information for product labeling to assure compliance with a multitude of federal and customer requirements.


Summary of responsibility:  This position is an integral part of the Research & Development Organization as well as the greater Brand Team. The individuals in this position are responsible for providing Regulatory leadership, guidance, support and expertise from the product concept development stage through the life of the product, including commercialization, on-shelf, and consumer experience with the product.


General Responsibilities


  • Review and approve package artwork for nutritional and regulatory compliance requirements, such as font size, text placement, proper product name, claims, principle display panel, information panel, etc

  • Provide expertise in the area of food labeling and industry regulations as it relates to reviewing and approving labels for nutritional, health/structure/function claims and regulatory labeling requirements

  • Secure necessary claim substantiation and maintain documentation to support claims made on labeling, websites and social media

  • Submit and maintain files for USDA/FSIS submission; including Sketch, Temporary and Generic Approvals

  • Evaluate risk of ingredient and formula changes. Identify packaging flow through status and label documentation implications

  • Keep abreast of matters relating to the production methods, formulations and application of CP Foods North America manufactured products.

  • Other duties as needed or required



  • Bachelor’s degree required in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Nutrition or other technical field

  • Minimum 2 years experience in food industry; Understanding of FDA & USDA Food Labeling Regulations

  • Passion for food

  • Excellent leadership, trouble shooting and decision making skills

  • Critical part of Research & Development Team – ability to contribute and communicate with all departments

  • Responsive: gets work done efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment

  • Self-starter with the adeptness to prioritize and act accordingly; thinks and acts independently

  • Results driven; sense of urgency with excellent follow-through and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in making sound risk assessments

  • Adaptability and flexibility to focus quickly on changing situations or revised goals

  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Preferred experience with Genesis R&D Food Labeling software and SAP.
