Overview














Responsibilities






  • The TUAS Safety Officer is responsible for providing Systems Safety expertise during the development and qualification of UAS and the evaluation of mishaps involving fielded systems.
  • Supports the execution of recurring System Safety Working Groups necessary to review system safety activity, the tracking and resolution of existing system hazards, and the risk acceptance process.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in the PEO Aviation System Safety Processes.
  • Coordinates with OEMs to provide oversight of System Safety Management Plans.
  • Coordinates with external organizations that have Safety oversight roles such as AMCOM and PEO Aviation to ensure that TUAS Safety Program activities align with expectations.
  • Effectively communicates with TUAS personnel, PM UAS and PEO functionals and staff, prime contractors and suppliers, user representatives, and Army airworthiness personnel.
  • Prepares and delivers reports and briefings to senior management describing program status, issues, analyses, findings, results, recommendations, and conclusions as appropriate.








Qualifications






  • Bachelor of Science (or higher) in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of U.S. Army aviation-related technical experience is required. UAS experience is highly desired.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.
  • Program Management Office experience desired.
  • Knowledge of relevant local regulations and industry standards.
  • Strong analytical skills, systematic and structured way of working.
  • Professional experience using Microsoft Office applications to include Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, and Word is required.
  • Candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter that thrives in a dynamic team environment.
  • Candidate must possess a proven ability to develop and provide reports to management.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance preferred and the ability to maintain such is required.
