Position Description:


The Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting Unitrends MSP sales activities in a presales technical role serving both Unitrends MSP sales representatives and potential customers while acting as the technical liaison representing Unitrends MSP products, development, and professional services. Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems.


Essential Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical discussions on screen sharing apps and conference calls.

  • Deliver presentations to prospect technical/management teams to articulate Unitrends MSP Products and Services value proposition.

  • Assists potential customers in leveraging Unitrends MSP best practices to ensure the highest level of satisfaction while evaluating the Unitrends MSP solution

  • Coordinates troubleshooting sessions to work on complex problems requiring in-depth root cause analysis with cross-functional teams.

  • Works as part of the Unitrends MSP sales team to formulate winning strategies as it relates to prospect requirements utilizing Unitrends MSP methodologies, technical solutions, education, and services.

  • Provide technical qualification based on customer assessment.

  • Signs off on technical feasibility of Unitrends MSP solutions in customer environment.

  • Embraces continuous self-study and easily adapts to changes in roles and responsibility.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast‐paced environment; must be a high‐energy, motivated self‐starter and can learn new technologies quickly.

  • Responsible for tracking activities via Unitrends MSP CRM tool (Salesforce).

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a high volume, fast paced office environment providing technical pre/post-sales support in a vendor or consulting environment.

  • Proven experience at successfully supporting the sales effort in a pre-sales consultative role.

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills combined with the ability to provide quick resolution to problems.

  • Experience with server consolidation, logical volume management, backup/restore, disaster recovery, software installation, or application development.

  • Comprehension of Heterogeneous Operating Environments, (i.e.: Windows, Linux).

  • Comprehension of virtualization and cloud technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure).

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; 3-5 years’ technical sales experience preferred

  • General understanding of multi-host hardware / software platforms, virtualization technologies, cloud technologies, storage and networking technologies, internet architectures, industry standard application architecture, and multiple operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux or Unix; implementing and planning backup/recovery and disaster recovery strategies preferred
