Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the accounting, reporting, and analyses for various divisions within the company. Additionally, will be responsible for development and maintenance of, as well as compliance with, the organization's accounting policies, procedures, controls and initiatives while ensuring that the financial statements comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Senior Accountant will actively participate in budgeting and forecasting reviews to ensure that forward-looking expectations are based on accurate accounting and financial reporting concepts.

As the Senior Accountant, you will:

  • Reviews, prepares, and analyzes financial reports and presents results to senior management.

  • Develops, maintains, and ensures compliance with all policies, procedures and controls adopted by the company and ensures financials comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Stay current with the latest technological advancements in accounting software and tools. Utilize technology to streamline financial processes and enhance efficiency.

  • Works with senior management to develop and implement reporting metrics to assist in performance measurement and improvement.

  • Creates, enters, and reviews general ledger entries for various divisions.

  • Monitor and recommend improvements to our internal control procedures.

  • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliation of accounts, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance department and implement changes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

  • Develops and analyzes financial statements, margin reports, trend, and variance analyses to report to senior management.

  • Reviews financial trends, reports, and industry data to provide financial improvement opportunities to senior management.

  • Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support for decision-making.

  • Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Education & Experience:

Any combination of education/experience equivalent to:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance; AND

  • 5+ years accounting or finance related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to adapt to and implement new procedures, systems, and efficiencies.

  • Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Experience with accounting software (Yardi Voyager or similar systems).

  • Strong work ethic with ability to prioritize and multi-task, willingness to work longer hours during peak periods.

  • Strong experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.

  • General knowledge of accounts payable procedures.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and time management.

  • Proven leadership abilities and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and guide junior staff.

  • Dedication to continuous learning and a commitment to staying current with industry trends and technological advancements.

  • Must work as a member of the team and be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to support the development and growth of the Company.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Aggressively anticipate impacts of workload/issues to team deadlines.
