Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Engineering will primarily be responsible for overseeing interconnection and engineering activities including project development, project design, and completing engineering initiatives. This position plays a key role in the department through managing the interconnection activities across several projects and supporting local approvals for projects. The candidate will be responsible for completing the work either directly, through internal or external resources.

 

Responsibilities:

•            Serve as the Engineering and technical expert on DG Interconnections Resolve issues as they arise through the interconnection process.

•            Keep abreast of tariffs, local utility design standards, and interconnection processes. Ensure all design deliverables meet the internal engineering standards. Coordinate external engineering resources as necessary and manage the task order and accounting process. Prepare and maintain external engineering specifications and scopes of work.

Establish and maintain budgets for 3rd party Engineering firms.

Review and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and methods used by the engineering staff or external resources. Mentor engineering staff members

Participate in industry trade groups and policy working groups addressing the modernization of the distribution system policies and tariffs.

Create/Review detailed engineering drawing packages. Follow and provide feedback to refine engineering processes and procedures with other engineering staff. Answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by the sales, engineering, and project management team members.

Spearhead various new product development initiatives and identify areas of value engineering.

Review the design approach methods and equipment selection to ensure the best overall project design and customer goals are achieved.

Communicate and collaborate with other departments, suppliers, and contractors. Prepare/Review various engineering and proposal-related presentations.

Support Development and Construction activities on site and perform on-site visits as necessary to support the project construction.

Review Power Purchase Agreements and EPC agreements to ensure design compliance. Oversee various testing and quality assurance checks to verify the quality of completed projects.

 

Qualifications:

Undergraduate (BS) Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering PE Registration as a Professional Engineer

10 years + Experience in Engineering

Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with or for utilities on Distribution systems.

Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on track.

Ability to work individually or as part of a team.

Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment.

Competent with computer software including Microsoft office suite, AutoCAD, and SKM/ETap Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various problems. Capable of interacting effectively across organizational boundaries to achieve goals and meet deadlines Ability to integrate both verbal and written communications with interpersonal skills.

Hybrid business hours splitting time between home and office.

Ability to travel out of town as required to develop, construction, or operating assets. (Approximately 30% of the time)

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York City is $160,000-$190,000 DOE.
