Job Description

POSITIONSUMMARY:

The  Sr. Project Controller position is a mid-level position that is  responsible for leading, mentoring, process development, setting up jobs, training, and cross-training, site management, field engineers, and project assigned PC I’s and II’s on every project. When new  job is setup, this position may be located at the project site during the setup period, progress reporting, cost control analysis, forecasting, cost and cash flow forecasting, change management and contingency management for the project within their respective business unit.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• The Project Controller  is responsible for creating, evaluating, and improving all financial controls processes and procedures within the guidelines of the organization. A strong expectation is placed on challenging the way we do business and thinking differently to improve our overall health of the company.

• He  is responsible for mentoring and training PC Is, and PC IIs, Field Engineers with timekeeping accuracy, equipment tracking, quantities accuracy, daily productivity, and planned percent complete

 • He  is responsible for updating, mentoring, training and advanced analytics of the project schedule in P6 on a weekly basis of all projects assigned

• He  is responsible for ensuring, and training that their assigned projects to all Contract Management and Revenue Recognition SOX controls as defined in the Company’s SOX narratives.

• He  is responsible for ensuring that all HO project controls specialist’s deliverables are completed, and deadlines met within his or her projects.

• He is responsible for leading the creation of new projects in the software systems with the help of Estimating and Project Management team . The SR PC is responsible for leading the change management, and risk management on all projects they are mentoring or responsible for.

• He  will help coordinate all site visits for project controls specialists, assisting in agendas and deliverables for the visit, and meetings with the site management team. Attend with the PM any weekly and monthly owner meetings as needed

• Assist PM’s, Directors, VP’s, and PCM on special reports, requests, analysis, subcontractor/EPC with daily, weekly, monthly reports to ensure data accuracy, and/or other Site Manager miscellaneous day to day activities

• When on site, Attend and participate in the Plan of the Day (POD) and Daily Managers meeting to obtain all information related to project controls

• It is also an expectation that all Project Controls Specialist will look after and operate in the best interest of the company

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Proficiency and/or Mastery of Excel, MS Office, Primavera and/or MS Project, Ecosys, Viewpoint, and Document Control programs

• Good communication skills to deal with owners and employees

• Possess a solid understanding of job costing

• Ability to read and understand prints and contract documents

• Self-disciplined, motivated, able to work with limited direct supervision, self-sufficient problem solver

 • Able to quickly adjust to changing priorities, assimilate directives with little guidance, take initiative

• Attention to detail, constant process improvement vigilance, and meet diligent deliverable deadlines

 • An unwavering dedication to continual process improvement

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• A four (4) year degree or global equivalent in Construction Management, Electrical/Civil/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Accounting/Finance, Project Management.

• 5-10 years of experience and preference given for experience in Solar, Renewable Energy or Power Generation. PMP Certification desirable.
