Job Description


General Responsibilities/Job Summary

Responsible for managing all aspects of shipping & Labeling department through the direction of personnel to ensure all procedures are followed in compliance with Company policies (i.e. SOPs, GMPs, etc.) and Federal and State regulations (i.e. USDA, OSHA, etc.) while achieving the highest level of productivity and maintaining customer specifications and satisfaction.


Essential Functions/Duties 

  • Supervise the personnel of the shipping and labeling areas.
  • Supervise the fulfillment of all customer orders.
  • Teach, coach, and mentor employees in order to get best team results possible.
  • Interviewing, making hiring recommendations.
  • Planning, scheduling and assigning work; checking and approving work; instructing and training in work methods.
  • Conducting performance appraisals and making recommendations regarding disciplinary actions
  • Inspect orders to ensure product-built matches customer requirements. 
  • Ensure quality of final product. 
  • Complete labeling and packaging of product to be shipped to customer. 
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition. 
  • Report defective material or questionable condition of product. 
  • Contribute and adhere to safety and quality expectations. 
  • Communicate status of operation in a timely manner to management including any safety and/or process problems.
  • Work corroboratively with other departments/shifts ensuring departmental or location goals are met or exceeded
  • Learn, understand and use the inventory management system (Canopy)
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be able to uphold our companies core values of integrity, trust, commitment, teamwork, and respect.
  • Candidates must have previous proven leadership experience leading a team in a fast paced, environment.
  • 5+ years’ experience working in a shipping/receiving department is required.
  • Shipping & leadership experience required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English) required
  • Strong desire to train and coach others to improve performance
  • Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous  Improvement preferred
  • A high level of personal integrity (self-esteem, confidence, honesty, and respect) is necessary qualities.
  • Self-motivated to work independently in a busy environment with changing priorities and the ability to adapt
  • Working with LTL and truckload carriers and using Transportation Management Systems required.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and innovate in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Experience with developing and documenting Standard Operating Procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective at managing relationships with internal and external customers
