SportTechie Web Developer (Freelance)

SportTechie is the world’s leading publication devoted to the burgeoning field of sports technology.

We are looking for a talented and dedicated Web Developer who can help us with site redesign work and digital product development that will help us take the next step as a growing sports media company.

The Job

We are seeking someone who is an ideator and entrepreneur at heart. This role will cover all technological needs and opportunities that we currently face and will encounter as a growing startup media company. One day you may be figuring out how to best build a new platform for our premium readers and the next you may be focused on redesigning a portion of our website to include custom branded content that integrates a key sponsor across our platforms. Success in this role will require you to use a diverse set of development skills to meet the growing technical and engineering needs of SportTechie.

You will be empowered to:

• Manage critical elements of SportTechie’s technical operations and opportunities

• Use a wide array of front-end engineering and development skills to advance SportTechie’s content, platforms and business

• Enhance, manage and develop our website, desktop and mobile platforms

• Execute digital products from idea to launch

• Work closely with our managing team to help build SportTechie’s multimedia vision

• Build outstanding sports technology platforms to connect and inform our audience

• Manage and collaborate with third parties and development and design firms

• Work closely with our managing team to assist in all technical needs coinciding with advertising and sponsorship campaigns

What we are looking for:

• An entrepreneurial spirit who truly wants to help build SportTechie

• A wordpress expert

• A full-stack developer with diverse skills ranging from front-end to backend technologies

• Expertise with databases, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and everything in between

• Prior development experience with CMS platforms, particularly Wordpress

• Maintaining a technical edge for all aspects of SportTechie operations

• An architect, thinker, researcher, tester and tinkerer

• Someone who can help develop and lead a mobile-first strategy and product offerings across all platforms

• Strong understanding of digital media, SEO, social media and online content strategy

• Experience with Google Analytics as well as digital advertising platforms such as Google Doubleclick, OpenX and Atlas

Job Location

• Work remotely with consistent daily communication with the SportTechie team

• Being in a major city is preferred

Compensation

• $40/hour - 20 hours per week

• There is an opportunity to develop this work into a full time role with SportTechie
