Headquartered in South Haven, MI, and distribution facility in Salt Lake City, UT, US Tarp® designs, manufactures and distributes load containment and cargo protection tarping systems, controls and tarps for commercial vehicle applications. The US Tarp design team develops automated and manual systems for custom applications in the Construction & Landscaping, Agriculture and the Recycling & Refuse markets. Our products are engineered to quickly and reliably cover and contain bulk commodities such as sand, gravel, scrap metal, wood fibers, mulch or chips and to cover and protect cargo such as asphalt and grain while in transit. About the Job:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Sales:

  • Serves customers by identifying their needs and recommends system and product solutions. This includes engineering adaptations of products, equipment, and services.
  • Helps to gain customer acceptance of US Tarp products and systems by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions and      operations improvements.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and provide technical sales support.
  • Responds to questions and requests of customers.
  • Works in collaboration with Customer Service and Territory Sales to establish new accounts and by identifying potential customers.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to existing and prospective customers.
  • Prepares sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and engineering and application trends. 
  • Travels throughout all sales territories to support customers and sales colleagues.

Customer Support:

  • Help clients solve problems with installed equipment related to product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information. Provides troubleshooting advice when customers are experiencing problems.
  • Provide technical support to CSRs and TSRs, answering questions for customers as requested.
  • Provides technical information and training to support the development of customers’ staff. 
  • Provide field service report; system repair or provide system installation training to customers.

Engineering & Manufacturing:

  • Identifies product, part and system problems, then directly supports the development and implementation of solutions – including the evaluation of existing manufacturing processes, component design issues and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Works with design engineering to test US Tarp vs competitors’ products, perform CAD work for tarp, component, system, and new product design.
  • Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed,      recommending options and courses of action, and implementing directives. 
  • Participate in the research and development of new systems, processes, equipment, and products; build prototypes.

Foundational Knowledge & Competency:

  • Has a high-level working knowledge of US Tarp’s business system (NetSuite), including engineering, manufacturing, order processing and sales applications. Utilizes this knowledge to effectively perform job responsibilities. 
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications,      establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains up to date understanding of federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation and anticipating possible future legislation. Ensures organizational awareness as appropriate.

General:

  • Contributes to overall US Tarp team effectiveness by applying knowledge and effort in a collaborative manner. 
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field 
  • 1 Years of experience in engineering, design, and manufacturing
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical computations
  • Strong analytical thinker
  • Valid drivers license 
  • Proficient in Solidworks, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Professional interactions with customer, vendors, and employees
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate channels
  • Ability to operate standard professional office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax machines, and file cabinets
