Akron's Life Science plant's core operation is the compounding and extrusion of tubing for various Industrial grade markets such as Fuel Line products, Food & Beverage products, along with BioPharma and Medical equipment components.
The Maintenance Technicians safelyperform maintenance of our compounding and extrusion machinery used in the manufacturing of different types and specs of plastic tubing made during the extrusion and compounding process.
Responsibilities include:
Perform preventative maintenance on the steam mills and additional equipment located in Akron this includes but is not limited to auto-lubricator troubleshooting, steam repairs, loader/hopper troubleshooting, etc...
Preventative Maintenance on the Extruders and downstream equipment used throughout the Extrusion Department including instrumentation calibration, cutters, pullers, stackers, winding equipment, branding equipment, etc...
Complete corrective/repair work orders as they are assigned by the maintenance supervisor.
Support Engineering projects within the department this can include but are not limited to (process improvements, new equipment implementation, etc...)
Respond to production calls as they come up this includes the troubleshooting and repair of all equipment within the Extrusion & Maintenance department.
Pay Information
*Per Union contract, Level II or Level III - will depend on certifications and experience level, information listed in Requirements section
Level II - $27.91
Level III - $32.38
Hourly Rate with increase once year
Shift: Openings will be on 2nd shift (4:00pm-12:00am) OR 3rd shift (12:00am-8:00am) will depend on shift preference and seniority
*Position will train on 1st shift for 30 to 120 days
High School Diploma or Equivalent - Required
Manufacturing maintenance experience -Required
Basic Electrical (Examples: Receptacles, Circuit Installations, Running Wire, Wire Motor for different voltage, assemble/wire two phase 208 station start-stop circuit, neatly wire/label, troubleshoot/fix blown fuse)
Basic PLC (examples: Troubleshooting PLCs, Modifying/Installing basic ladder logic)
Tow motor experience
Maintenance Tech level 2
Advanced Mechanical troubleshooting and repair (motor/gearbox, belt/bearing, etc...)
Pipe fitting repair/replacement - (water, steam, air, gas, etc...)
Basic PLC/electrical troubleshooting (contactors, overloads, fuses, breakers, etc...)
Basic machining/welding skills for in-house project/design
Basic Inkjet/laser branding troubleshooting and repair
Ability to read and interrupt wiring diagrams, prints, and additional schematics.
Ability to perform PM's on all production related equipment
Be able to perform all duties of the lower-level technicians
Maintenance Tech level 3
Basic Troubleshoot/Diagnose/Repair of PLC/VFD issues
Basic Servo/Control troubleshooting
Advanced automation troubleshooting (TAAT)
Ability to perform root cause analysis on various systems throughout the shop.
Implementation and design work on Engineering projects
Be able to perform all duties of the lower level technicians
