What you'll do:
Conduct tooling design assignments in conformity with sound engineering principles, policies, and controls to develop tooling, and process designs necessary to fabricate and assemble quality products.
Design work holding solutions for the manufacturing facility which includes dies, machine tool work holding, welding jigs and assembly jigs. Design considerations must be given for ease of use, ergonomics and error proofing (Poke-Yoke), using the latest technology for work holding. Program equipment using tooling which may involve robotics, machine tools, or CNC laser equipment.

Provide expertise and support in all aspects of tooling including: technical assistance, training, new equipment justification, work instruction development, lean opportunities.

Research and development of new/existing processes and manufacturing systems to improve quality, productivity, and reduce operating costs. R&D should include the discovery of new manufacturing and assembly techniques through partnerships, testing, and/or idea exchanges with technical contacts.
What you'll bring:

- Team player who can communicate effectively in a team environment. Ability to lead teams at various times to design new work holdings.
- Values and understands quality workmanship with an emphasis towards safe working habits.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to converse with individuals at both a higher and lower education level than the candidate.
- Preference toward an Engineering Technology degree plus 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education & experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience (if no degree obtained) in a Manufacturing Role to acquire sufficient background and technique to perform job responsibilities.
- Ability to identify process problems and correct them with little or no guidance. Self-motivated and able to develop and complete tasks necessary for process maintenance and improvement.
- Experience in a Lean environment with a background in cross functional areas. Familiar with Kaizen, Kan-Ban, SMED or other continuous improvement
- Must carry themselves professionally and handle challenging situations between management and floor personnel in a professional manner to resolve problems.
- Use of measuring tools such as tape measures, micrometers, etc.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings. Working knowledge of welding & machining symbols, and fabricated tolerances.
- Must have knowledge necessary to calculate material strengths and excellent working knowledge of production and machine shop methods. Preference toward candidates who take a hands-on approach toward research and enjoy working in a manufacturing environment.
