Job Description:
To support the mission and values of the Athletic Department and LSU Cheerleading program by coaching the cheerleaders to be their best at events, games and competition. Holding members accountable to the team guidelines and contributing to a positive culture. Mentoring the team members in an exciting, fun, safe atmosphere.
Job Description:
40% Assist with coaching game day/promotional/nationals routines while maintaining the integrity of LSU traditions. Teach proper progressions of skills and evaluate performer readiness to perform skills safely. Assess safety aspects of practice and game day environment. Work closely with Head Coach and Athletic Training Staff notifying of any known injuries and illnesses and in return to play protocol for those returning from injury.
40% Assist with performance reviews and individual goals for team members throughout the fall/spring semester. Assist with day-to-day operations such as but not limited to: special occasion meal organization, uniform distribution, etc.
20% Work with alumni and teach camps/clinics to generate additional revenue for the spirit squad program. Recruiting of new candidates to the program. Assist in tryouts and selection of the team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in any specialization OR an equivalent combination of education and job-related experiences
Experience:
3-4 years’ collegiate cheerleading experience
Summer Camp teaching staff preferred
AACCA certification required
Administration:
- Assist in day to day team management and communication to team members; reply to emails
- Assist in tryouts and securing new qualified team members
- Maintain knowledge of the rules and regulations of the NCAA, SEC and LSU. Report violations or suspected violations to the Head Coach and/or the Athletics Compliance Department.
Time Commitment:
20 hours per week starting in August thru April. This position will also assist with tryouts and summer camp as needed.
Practice: Participate in team practice approximately 2 days a week.
Games: Participate in various home athletic contests consisting of Football, Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Gymnastics. A regular game day schedule consists of attending promotional events, warmups, game performance, postgame storage of equipment and team dismissal. Travel is required for one away athletic contests.
Nationals: This position is required to travel/attend Nationals competition.
