Job Description:

Coordinate and direct all aspect of the Region VII Louisiana Science & Engineering Fair and the Louisiana State Science & Engineering Fair (LSEF) each year for all qualifying participants. Each fair is broken up into two divisions: Junior Division (6th-8th grade) and Senior Division (9th-12th grade). The Region VII Science & Engineering Fair is open to the following parishes: East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, Iberville, & Ascension Parish. The Louisiana State Science & Engineering Fair is open to all qualifying students from Louisiana Regional fairs. The position requires on-site managing and directing during the fair weeks that can equal more than 25 hours per week. Coordinate travel to the spring International Science & Engineering Fair for the winners from Region VII and State fairs. LSU OCE has been hosting the fairs since 1957.

Job Responsibilities:

Coordinate logistics for each fair - update the website, reserve event space, update zFairs registrations system, order catering, design & order t-shirts, order awards, organize (order as needed) supplies. Schedule training/information sessions for each fair inviting school teachers and regional coordinators from the other regions. Affiliate each fair with the International Science & Engineering organization (Society of Science). 70%

Coordinate volunteer recruitment & registration for Region VII and State fairs - staff and judges. Send communication to each College Dean a call for volunteers (faculty, staff, GA's). Submit a call for volunteers with LSU News & Notes. Recruit volunteers internally with Online & Continuing Education. Organize judge training. 15%

Arrange for travel (staff and students) to the International Science & Engineering Fair - work with LSU Travel for travel approvals and spending. Reconcile all expenses following travel. 10%

Assist with generating Science & Engineering fair sponsorships. Participate in potential sponsor meetings. Work with confirmed sponsors for logo placement and recognition. 5%

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience

Specific Experience: Background in education

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree with 5 years of experience

Specific Experience: Background in education, middle and high school

Additional Requirements:

Minor Contact -This position and/or position's responsibilities require work directly with minors. Finger printing and National Sex Offender Registry check required per FASOP HR-04.
