Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design or specify lubrication, cooling and other like system components within the gearbox and drivetrain for large wind turbines.
  • Provide design calculation and mechanical/thermal problem solving.
  • Drive qualification testing/ validation support relative to equipment standards for structural, thermal rejection, vibration, and acoustics or other similar mechanical validation.
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing on the production of parts.
  • Collaborate with other design engineers on the drivetrain and systems teams.
  • Create and revise of drawing/specifications/design practices/ certification documents for lubrication and cooling system of gearboxes and drive train.
  • Optimization and improvement of existing components for upgrade applications, design to cost considering should cost models.
  • Work with certification and testing institutes, support customer and due diligence activities.
  • Work cross-functionally with quality teams, manufacturing engineers, sourcing, planning, field support and others to improve first time yield.
  • Investigate causes for component interferences, functional failures, gearbox excessive vibration and other mechanical trouble shooting.

  • Technical education or bachelor’s degree in mechanical or similar engineering
  • Minimum 1 years of experience in wind or similar industrial industry

Desired Characteristics:

  • Background in mechanical design engineering, with good mechanical sense and fundamental base
  • Basic experience in designing, qualifying, supplier and fleet support of drive train components.
  • Technical drawing and design interpretation experience
  • Knowledge of FMEA, should cost analysis
  • Master Degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering
  • Familiar with one or more of the calculation programs like Flowmaster
  • Knowledge of Corella, ECO, NCR, process
  • NX experience to model 3D parts
  • GD&T fundamentals
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries
  • Fluent English written and spoken
  • Willing to travel and climb turbines
