Job Description

**Posting Title** Postdoctoral Researcher - 2DMaterials for Solar Fuel Generation . **Location** CO - Golden . **Position Type** Postdoc (Fixed Term) . **Hours Per Week** 40 . **Job Description** The Chemistry and Nanoscience Center is looking for a Postdoctoral researcher to aid in the next generation of solar fuel system development. The successful applicant will have expertise in synthesis and manipulation of 2D materials, such as transition metal dichalcogenides, with a focus on applying these photochemical systems in photo- and electro-catalysis. Synthesis of 2D layers via top down (mechanical, surfactant, and chemical exfoliation) and bottom up (chemical vapor deposition) methods will be leveraged within the postdoctoral research. Doping, functionalization, defect engineering, plasmonic interactions, and engineered/dynamically generated strain will be needed to tune optoelectronic and catalysis properties. The successful candidate will utilize these experimental design tools to create 2D material systems that are catalytically active for hydrogen evolution, CO2 reduction, N2 fixation, etc. and will study their properties using a variety of characterization techniques. Therefore, the successful candidate should have experience in a variety of characterization techniques such as (photo)electrochemistry, Confocal Raman/photoluminescence spectroscopy and microscopy, scanning tunneling spectroscopy/microscopy, transient absorption, etc. Additionally, the successful applicant should have expertise in data analysis, experimental design, and writing of manuscripts. The successful applicant will have experience working in a diverse team of material scientists, chemists, and spectroscopists to probe and understand surfaces and interfaces of newly developed chemistries and architectures. . **Basic Qualifications** Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years. . **Additional Required Qualifications** Must have just received a Ph.D in physics, chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering or the equivalent. Must be able to critically think through experimental designs, analyze data, and communicate results. Must work well in a team setting while also being independent. Must be able to publish manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. **Preferred Qualifications** Must have just received a Ph.D in physics, chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering or the equivalent. . **Submission Guidelines** Please note that in order to be considered an applicant for any position at NREL you must submit an application form for each position for which you believe you are qualified. Applications are not kept on file for future positions. Please include a cover letter and resume with each position application. . **EEO Policy** NREL is dedicated to the principles of equal employment opportunity.
