Legal (LEG) is the competence unit for all legal matters related to the Equinor group’s business areas and corporate activities and consist of legal experts, specialists, consultants, and qualified support personnel. The department has overall responsibility for advising on all legal matters and on ethics and anti-corruption compliance, undertaking Integrity Due Diligence research and acting as the Corporate Bodies’ secretariat within the Equinor group.
The New Energy Solutions (NES) business area reflects Equinor’s long term goal to complement the oil and gas portfolio with profitable renewable energy and other low-carbon energy solutions. NES aims to do this with the support of Equinor’s oil and gas competence, project delivery capabilities and ability to integrate technological solutions. NES’s core activities include a growing offshore wind portfolio, a Solar taskforce, operational responsibility for the Technology Centre Mongstad Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) facility, and a portfolio of venture capital investments.
NES is organised into 5 business clusters; Ventures (VEN); Strategy and Innovation (SI); Business Development (BD); Wind and Low Carbon Development (WALC); and New Energy Operations (NEO).
Leading Legal Counsel for New Energy Solutions (NES) with focus on UK North Sea and broader global responsibility for international NES developments
Advise the development of the mulit-billion dollar Dogger Bank, Dudgeon and Sheringham Shoal extension developments.
Advise on the operations and corporate matters for each of these projects.
Advise on the multi-billion dollar project financing and power sales.
Advise on the strategy to transform Equinor’s business into a multi-faceted energy hub in the North Sea, linking to other European energy markets.
Build competence and lead improvement throughout legal (100 lawyers) on new energy solutions, in particular to help with other multi-billion dollar projects around the world.
Provide advice to team leader and others on development of entire NES portfolio across the world.
Represent Equinor in multiple business arenas to influence the development of the regulatory environment throughout Northern Europe.
Manage and develop new ways of working and reducing costs with external and internal lawyers both in UK and in other locations. This will also involve developing competence and ways of working within the Equinor’s renewables business
Educated to level of Bachelor or higher within relevant subject.
Experience of advising senior management within the renewables or broader power sector. Ideally with competence across project development, regulatory, project finance, power sales and grid development.
Commercial awareness and demonstrated ability to support strategic transformation.
Strong transactional experience with shareholder agreements, auction arrangements, subsidy agreements, and power purchase agreements.
Able to make prompt, clear decisions and takes responsibility for actions, projects and people.
Able to take initiative, act with confidence and work under own direction.
Team Player - Demonstrate an interest in and understanding of others. Establishing a good relationship with customers and colleagues.
