We have the unique and significantrole to partner with NASA at Johnson Space Center \(JSC\), to be part of everyhuman spaceflight program – the International Space Station \(ISS\), NASA’s Orionspacecraft, which will carry astronauts into deep space, and Gateway, theorbiting platform providing the home for astronauts to work and travel back andforth to the moon’s surface, and serving as the platform for deep spaceexploration\.From critical systems onthe ISS to enable astronauts to live and work in space; to performing advanceddevelopment for systems leading to deep space exploration; to being part of thefoundation for Gateway\. We also partner with NASA at JSC,the only NASA center in the United States to curate all astromaterial samplesreturned from exploration missions, to perform curation services, orbitaldebris analysis, and basic research to further humankind’s understanding of theorigins of our solar system\. We need you to be a part of ourteam\! We are currently in need of a **Safety Engineer** to join our team with Barrios Inc\., a JETS teammate company\. Do you have the following skills? As a **Safety Engineer** you will: + Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Association \(OSHA\), Environmental Protection Agency \(EPA\), National Fire Protection Agency \(NFPA\), Johnson Space Center \(JSC\), and State and local requirements\. + Act as a mentor to management and employees for the implementation of the JETS Safety Program\. + Assist in procedure development, and review technical documents to ensure compliance with safety requirements\. + Conduct audits and walk\-throughs to ensure organizational compliance with safety program\. + Provide guidance to operations to ensure safe and environmentally responsible work practices are implemented\. + Identify and communicate hazards, causes and effects as they apply to fabrication/machining areas and research laboratories\. + Develop hazard controls and verifications to mitigate identified hazards\. Independently analyze and make recommendations for system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards\. + Create hazard analysis products for facility systems used in support of fabrication/machining areas and research laboratories using safety analysis techniques to include System Hazard Analysis and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis\. + Assistance in the creation Job Hazard Analysis for tasks performed in fabrication/machining areas and research laboratories\. + Conduct safety and environmental health related training and design new training classes as needed\. + Develop test safety documents and perform hazard analysis as it pertains to facility safety\. + Participate in Operational Readiness Reviews as a subject matter expert\. Research, recommend procurement and train employees in the use of personal protective equipment required to mitigate identified workplace hazards\. + Perform incident investigations to identify root cause and corrective actions\. + Provide reports and briefings to management\. + Provide program management responsibilities for all safety related programs and initiatives\. + Perform ergonomic assessments for field and office work environments\. Coordinate requirements for compliance with hazardous materials management requirements\. + Coordinate requests for sampling of workplace exposures for physical and chemical hazards\. + Perform other duties as required\. **Qualifications** **RequiredEducation/Experience/Skills:** _Thisposition has been posted at multiple levels\. Depending on the candidate'sexperience, requirements and business needs, we reserve the right to considercandidates at any level for which this position has been advertised\._ + BS degree from an accredited engineering school and five \(5\) years of related engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four \(4\) years of related engineering experience, or Ph\.D\. from an accredited engineering school\. + Must have at least five \(5\) years of direct safety experience\. + Must have excellent communication and presentation skills\. + Working knowledge of OSHA regulations\. + Proficiency with MS Office required\. **Preferences:** + Prefer ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, Science, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering and at least five \(5\) years of direct safety experience\. + Direct experience with Incident & Injury Free and Behavior\-Based Safety techniques desired\. + MS degree in area of specialty is preferred\. + Certified Safety Professional \(CSP\) or Certified Industrial Hygienist \(CIH\) certification is preferred\. **Why Work on Our Team?** Clickon the below links to view just a small sample of all that we do\!
