Job Description

Owing to continued growth and high demand for its services, Wood is seeking to recruit a Project Manager to join our Implementation Team to focus on the delivery and development of our Solar PV Owner’s Engineer services. This role is to lead the delivery of multidisciplinary technical advisor and/or Owner’s Engineer projects through their feasibility, pre-construction and/or construction phases. Whilst this role will have a particular focus on solar PV developments it may also include involvement in wind, storage and hybrid projects. The principal responsibilities of this post include: + Ensuring health, safety and environmental considerations are integral to the delivery of projects and project tasks. + Leading and managing the delivery of renewable energy project developments (primarily solar PV projects) in accordance with the pre-defined budgets, deadlines and quality requirements. + Regularly and accurately reporting the status of projects to Clean Energy’s management. + Be the main interface and manage the relationship with clients and contractors. + Lead a team of multi-disciplined specialists to progress, record and deliver renewable energy projects + Add value, avoid/resolve issues, mitigate risks and manage project’s finances and contracts by applying robust project management practices and experience from previous projects. + Contribute to business development activities and assist in securing new opportunities for the company. + Participation at site visits and meetings in the UK and abroad. + Disseminate knowledge and experiences to other team members, and supporting the development of the team and team members. Essential Criteria: + Practical understanding of safety regulations, best practice, and engineering standards. + Degree or above in engineering, technical or science-based subject. + A working knowledge of solar energy technology and projects. + Experience of development and construction of renewable energy projects. + Project management skills and proven experience of cost-control, issue, risk, opportunity and programme management. + High levels of problem solving ability, initiative, thoroughness organisation and attention to detail. + Ability to manage own time and prioritise work loads to allow timely delivery of tasks. + Ability to prepare and write high quality concise documents to convey project progress, status and financial information to internal and external project stakeholders. + Ability to manage and mentor a small team of project engineers or assistant project managers, and to delegate responsibilities and work packs. + Excellent written and verbal English language ability. + A flexible and proactive approach to completing work. + Competent PC user (minimum MS Office, including MS Project). + Valid driving licence for use with in UK. + Willingness for occasional worldwide travel. Desirable Criteria: + A postgraduate qualification related to renewable energy or significant knowledge of a range of renewable energy system technologies. + Previous experience in the development, construction and operation of solar PV projects. + Detailed knowledge of solar energy technology and hybrid projects. + Experience of working within a consultancy environment. + Knowledge of forms of contract and/or experience in contract negotiations. + An understanding of the key technical and commercial aspects of solar projects.
