**Role Summary:** The Solar Field Technician will have 5+ years in a PV technician role for commercial and/or utility scale solar PV projects. They will perform testing and commissioning activities, as well as troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise with new and existing projects. **Essential Responsibilities:** Including but not limited to: + Perform equipment testing including but not limited to: I-V curve testing, insulation testing (megger testing), torque tests, thermal imagery, and system performance evaluations + Perform electrical and mechanical preventative and corrective maintenance of site equipment followed by reporting activities + Perform a variety of PV plant start-up and commissioning functions on all components of the PV system including but not limited to execution of pre-commissioning protocols, commissioning protocols, acceptance tests, and customer training + Monitor system performance and alerts through web portal, identify and perform actions needed to resolve issues and clear alerts + Inspecting PV plant equipment for compliance with the NEC and good workmanship practices + Schedule and perform site visits and inspections during construction and after project completion + Work Environment + In addition to desk work in an office environment, this position requires working in all elements and extreme environments depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain & snow + May need to occasionally perform work at various heights using ladders, bucket trucks, scaffolding, catwalks, aerial lifts or other safe working platforms.- Be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops and able to work on your feet for long periods of time and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. + Working safely around high voltages and currents + Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety shoes, and safety glasses at all times + Repetitive use of legs, arms, hands and fingers + Be willing to work weekends, and overtime as required **Qualifications/Requirements:** + Strong oral and written communication skills + Strong interpersonal skills + Strong attention to safety practices and knowledge of NFPA 70E and OSHA safety requirements including LOTO, Arc Flash, etc. + Strong work ethic, be a self-starter and work with little to no supervision + Strong electrical, electronic, communications and mechanical troubleshooting skills required for working with equipment found in commercial and utility PV plants- Demonstrated competence using electrical and mechanical testing and hand tools including but not limited to multimeters, I-V curve test units, megger testers, torque wrenches, etc. as needed + Demonstrated experience configuring and troubleshooting inverters, electrical switchgear, communications, monitoring and other equipment typical for commercial and utility PV systems + Experience with using plant control and monitoring systems to diagnose plant problems and monitor site daily performance + Technical Diploma in electricity, electronics or related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience + Must have a valid state driver’s license and clean driving record. (example, no DUI in the last 5 years) + Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite **Desired Characteristics:** + Electrician License (Journeyman or higher) + Familiarity with the National Electric Code as it relates to PV Plants + NABCEP Certified PV Installer + Training in NETA procedures and protocols **About Us:** GE (NYSE:GE) drives the world forward by tackling its biggest challenges.
